Happy Birthday Baby!

Today is my little girl's birthday....it's been so amazing to see her grow and acquire such a personality. No words can say how much I love this child....only other parents can understand.  I wish for everyone to have a child and experience this kind of LOVE.

Easter is coming...

A few of the foods we used to create some of our favorite colors....

Red Cabbage, Boiling Water, & Vinegar ~ Robin's Egg Blue
Blueberries & Water ~ Bluish-Gray Eggs
Tumeric, Boiling Water, and Vinegar~ Mustard Yellow Eggs
Brewed Coffee ~ Golden Brown Eggs
Beets, Boiling Water, & Vinegar ~ Pale Pink Eggs

I can't help myself but to share these awesome food coloring ideas for Easter eggs.  I found them this morning on Simple Song's blog.  I had the honor of meeting Suanne while in DC during the southern tour.  She is so great, check her out and you'll be following no doubt. I will tell you more about the tour soon...have to catch up with work and fam first...
I don't like to use the artificial food coloring they sell with the cute decorating kits....especially if you plan to eat the egg.... you know?  My mom  used onion skins to boil the eggs with and the color turned out brown...i would scratch designs in it...but this is so much more fun, don't you think?..sorry mama...gonna have to out do you on this one:)  hehe
The eggs were done by the blogger Dreamy Whites...check out the blog post about the whole thing and see more photos by Heather Bullard in the Souvenir magazine.

I'll be in Hong Kong for Easter but I hope some of you will be give this a go...mom?

Costa Rica part II

We celebrated the new year in Costa Rica again this year....remember the trip I wrote about same time last year? This year we spent most of our time with my sister in law Perrey Reeves at her (almost operating) yoga retreat.  They had electricity this year!!! Even though my family was taking turns at being sick the whole time, it was still an amazing break.  You must be wondering ...who is the beautiful mermaid in the pictures??  It's Tala from Bathing News Blog and all pictures are shot by her lovely merman:)!  She happened to be there with her fiance, so we met up and had a blast in Santa Teresa.  This beach is magical! Be sure to check out Tala's blog...this girl is so genuinely nice and oh so beautiful
In the above pictures Elle and Tala are wearing suits from a couple seasons ago and I'm wearing a suit that's available for sale again here and here.
ps. i'm only documenting this picture on my attempting to do a handstand because I'll do one next year...just wait and see:)

Holiday weekend recap...

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend!!!  Our first Thanksgiving as hosts in New York City was wonderful!  We had members of our families..even an aunt and uncle from Poland!  I had fun making a pumkin and pecan pies with Elle...and Nathaniel made most of everything else (i know I'm a lucky girl to have a chef hubster) ...well wait a minute I also made the mashed sweet potatoes:)  I love setting a table and I'm quite happy how it turned out.  We had 10 people over so added the kitchen table to make it longer...what do you think?  Like my new dining room chairs?  Friday we went to the Central Park Zoo and walked down 5th avenue to see the holiday windows at Beargdorf Goodman..wow!  You have to go see for yourself because these pictures don't give it justice.  Saturday we went to the Lincoln Center to see The Nutcracker....Elle loved it!  Oh and because of all these awesome babysitters we have here Nathaniel and I got to go to yoga every day!  That's a big treat and made it all the better weekend.  How was your thanksgiving?  What pie do you usually make?

ps. Thank you to all who came by our sample sale!

Thanksgiving table decor...

the chairs I need via Pinterest
We are hosting Thanksgiving this year in our nyc loft!  I love entertaining and and so excited to have family here with us for my favorite holiday! The above pictures are inspiring my table decor.  I love the organic feeling of the above.  I hope I can create something with the same feel but do you think I can with my gild trimmed china and white/blue metal table? Also it would help if we had dining table chairs!  Since the move we've been living with out those...only using our kitchen chairs, which I have 4 of.  I'll use those for the ends but I'm really hoping they have these in stock for me to buy before the Turkey day.  I better get to it...only 8 days to go.  How are you decorating your table?  I would love to know your inspiration....any tricks of how to make gold trimmed china look organic?

Merry Christmas!!!

Our holiday card designed by the talented Hanna Nation from GADABOUT

So....we finally finished unpacking, re-packing and sending our 2011 inventory.  The last two nights were spent working like little elves past 2am to get it all to the shops asap!  WHEEW
Thank Goodness to our wonderful intern from the past who was willing to help out!  Leah you are the best!!!
Now it's time to prepare for Christmas Eve, I'm making some traditional non-meat dishes from Poland.  Pierogi & Barszcz...the pierogis are filled with mushrooms and onions and the barszcz is made from red beets and is oh soooooo delish!!!  It's very time consuming so it's reserved for special occasions only...looks like I'll be up till 2 again, especially because I still need to wrap all gifts.
I'm so happy we are spending the holiday home for once! no driving all over the east coast this year!
I do wish we were in Poland celebrating my parents 50th anniversary of their meeting but I hope I'll catch them on SKYPE to break bread on Christmas Eve. (another Polish tradition)

After Christmas we are off to Costa Rica to visit my sister in law and see the YOGA retreat she is almost finished building. I hope santa brings me a good camera so I can document our trip and share with you later!  Can't wait to try out the new collection myself!
Have a beautiful holiday!!!
